About Swedish Candy!
SWEDISH CANDIES!
Today's candy is Swedish candy. Swedish candy are not typically large bars of chocolates or large bags of skittles. They prefer a mix of small chocolates, gummies, caramel, licorice, and flavorful marshmallows. In Sweden they call Swedish candy Swedish Godis, since Godis means candy in Swedish. Swedish Godis is culturally known in Sweden. They choose candy at the end of the week, called Fredagsmys, which means cozy Friday in English. This is a major moment for kids and even adults. People in Sweden actually consume the most amount of candy in the world. On average, a Swedish person will eat around 37 pounds of candy per year.
Swedish candy is becoming very popular in the United States, one candy you may know is called, Bubs. Bubs is a brand that typically makes a delicious range of jelly and foam-based sweets. These sweets are often flavored with fruit or caramel.
Although some Swedish candies may look similar to ours, they have different tastes and textures. So, any time you're ever in Sweden you may see LOTS of candy shops around you. Stop by and grab a bag of your favorites to try. If you can get candy on a Friday after school or after work, then you will have officially participated in Fredagsmys. Just remember, not all candy will taste the same or it may not be to your liking. I encourage you to venture out and try new things because you never know what you may like. Just keep an open mind when trying new things
